People requesting to subscribe to a newsletter submit their email address and their name. However, they can give any name they wish. The website server securely stores all email addresses and names. In addition, if anyone wishes to unsubscribe from the newsletter, then they can click the unsubscribe link on the newsletter. Unsubscribing marks that person’s details for permanent deletion.

Also, I NEVER pass on or sell your personal email details from newsletter subscriptions to third parties. I use the plugin called Newsletter by Stefano Lissa & The Newsletter Team.
